Hag of the Mist:
With the release of our newest album, I'd like to acknowledge this as my favorite track on the CD. Nate came up with one of the greatest guitar riffs I've ever heard, and it really inspired me to write lyrics that would do it justice. I began sifting through old Irish folk-lore and came across the story of the Irish Banshee, also known in Wales as Gwrach-y-Rhibyn...the Hag of the Mist!
The tale describes the Hag as being an old, ugly woman with bat-like wings and long, skeletal fingers. She rises from the mists at crossroads, swamps, and streams, searching for her lost husband and calling out, "fy ngwr, fy ngwr!"...(my husband, my husband). According to the lore, if you hear her calling, someone will be dead by night's end. If it's your name she is calling, then you are the one destined for death.
"Fy Ngwr! Fy Ngwr! Rising up from the Devil's shore
Fy Ngwr! Fy Ngwr! She screams and takes one more
You've been tagged by the Hag of the Mist..."
